I’ve seen Nolan Kingham pitch and believe he has the stuff to be an average AAA pitcher, but the stats say otherwise so far. He’s not been able to avoid that one bad inning, and the contact results haven’t been pretty.
Among other issues, the Rockies haven’t managed to toss together a winning Triple A outfit even by accident. In the past 13 seasons, Colorado’s AAA club has never finished above .500 and has had a winning home record only four times. In the last seven seasons, their best finish is 14 games under .500. The good people of Albuquerque deserve better, and maybe, under new administration, this is the year. The Isotopes are 44-41 and have been as many as nine games over .500.

Best I can tell, Dalton Pence used his upstairs fastball to complete only one of his six strikeouts, employing a slider, cutter and change for the rest.
Last season, Eric Loomis had 13 two-inning outings, but yesterday was his first of 2026. A game-ending homer at San Antonio in mid-June commenced a rough period for him including two three-run outings and another with two walks and a hit batter. As with so many minor league relievers, control is a bigger issue than contact. He’s issued 13 walks and hit two batters, but he’s allowed only four extra-base hits.

Frisco’s Hans Crouse retired his first ten opponents and carried a no-hitter into the 6th. Round Rock’s Delino DeShields started at second for the first time in eight seasons. He would play there intermittently before being traded to Boston and then Cincinnati, where he would play in the Majors for what is likely the last time. DeShields is still active with indy Cleburne.
