Both of Emiliano Teodo’s swinging strikes were sinkers, an unusual occurrence. Carter Baumler’s velocity as down, but I noticed everyone with MLB experience was allegedly throwing slower than their usual selves tonight. Is Salt Lake the anti-El Paso in terms of Statcast pitch velocity? Doing a quick analysis of the PCL pitch data, I see El Paso and Vegas possibly inflating pitch speeds and Tacoma and Sugar Land depressing them the most. It could all be statistical noise, but I wonder if there’s some miscalibration between parks.

Baseball America has a short feature on Hickory righty Moises Morales, who’s had a fine year. They commend his sweeper (37% chase rate, 18% swinging strike rate), a sinker ordinary in velocity but terrific at generating grounders plus a cutter, four-seamer and change.
Hickory and Charleston meet tonight for Game 2 of the league semifinals. Hickory must take two games in Charleston to advance.
